Summary

This funding opportunity is designed for nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable individuals in a specific county in Indiana. Projects must be situated within this county and aimed at populations experiencing high levels of need, such as low-income families, immigrants and refugees, infants and pregnant women, or those facing food insecurity and limited healthcare access. The program prioritizes work that advances health, nutrition, early childhood well-being, and equitable access to care.

Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations (or those with a fiscal sponsor) located in the designated county and have experience working with marginalized populations. The organization should demonstrate that at least half of its programming serves low-income or otherwise vulnerable individuals. The opportunity does not support individuals, building/capital campaigns, past-completed projects, or political activities.

Grant funds may be used for program support, operational support related to a specific initiative, equipment that advances the program, staff training, technical assistance, or the matching portion of a collaborative project. The focus is on new or enhanced services, not retrospective funding. Projects that enable pregnant women and infants to access quality care; help residents who are food-insecure gain nutritious options; increase access for uninsured or under-insured individuals to healthcare; or support immigrants and refugees to connect with vital services are particularly aligned.

Award amounts vary by project size and request. Smaller grants are available through an open application window, while larger grants require a preliminary letter of intent followed by full submission. For example, smaller grants may be awarded directly in one cycle, while larger grants have an LOI deadline in late August, full applications in mid-September, and decisions by mid-December.

This is an annual opportunity—with both small and larger grant cycles each year. If your organization is rooted in the county, serves vulnerable populations, aligns with the program’s focus areas, and has a well-designed project ready to launch or expand, this grant could provide meaningful support.
