Indiana's chronic disease research applications must document how investigators will access Medicaid claims data through the state's designated health information exchange. Graduate students at Purdue University or Indiana University must complete additional training on the Indiana Network for Patient Care before any analysis begins.
The state's manufacturing workforce has produced a higher-than-average prevalence of metabolic and cardiovascular conditions among residents aged 55 and older. Proposals must therefore stratify recruitment targets by former occupation to ensure representation from automotive and steel communities in Lake and Porter counties.
Budget justifications receive scrutiny for inclusion of data-use fees charged by the Indiana State Department of Health. Projects that omit these fees or assume free access to de-identified records are returned for correction.
