Indiana Workshop Operations for Civic Participation
Indiana Nuestra Herencia funding targets operational delivery of civic-engagement workshops in Marion and Lake counties, where Latinx voter-registration rates remain 11 points below the state average per 2020 Indiana Election Division data. The program supplies grants for venue rental, printed materials, and staff time rather than capital purchases.
Operational constraints include limited weekend public-transit service in suburban townships and county rules that cap nonprofit meeting attendance at 75 persons without additional fire-department permits. Applicants must therefore provide county health-department occupancy certificates with each budget line item.
The funding covers only direct workshop costs; indirect rates above 8 percent are disallowed. Quarterly financial reports require itemized receipts and signed participant rosters. Unlike Ohio operations, Indiana demands that workshop curricula explicitly cite Indiana Code Title 3 on elections and include Spanish-language versions of all handouts.
Indiana Workshop Applicant Criteria
Entities must hold current Indiana registered-agent status. Budgets cannot exceed $45,000 per 12-month cycle. Renewal requires proof that at least 60 percent of attendees completed voter-registration forms during the funded period.
