The funding addresses these barriers by supporting structured mentorship placements that pair participants with employers offering documented pathways to industry certifications. Required metrics include the number of placements completed and the percentage of participants obtaining credentials within 18 months.
Indiana’s concentration of automotive and advanced manufacturing suppliers creates different mentorship requirements from Ohio or Michigan applications. Projects must demonstrate alignment with existing state career and technical education pathways rather than generic soft-skill programs.
Application materials require letters from regional workforce development boards confirming that proposed industry partners have current job openings in the target occupations. Proposals lacking these letters receive automatic rejection.
