This creates measurable delays in data completeness, with stage-at-diagnosis fields missing for 14 percent of cases diagnosed in 2022. Early-career researchers proposing registry-linked studies must therefore account for these data-quality constraints when planning analytic timelines. The Indiana Department of Health maintains only two full-time registry staff positions dedicated to molecular data abstraction. Consequently, requests for custom data pulls require 90-day advance notice and are limited to variables already coded in the existing system. Nonprofits seeking the innovative research funding must include registry letters confirming both data availability and the timeline for any required custom extractions. Readiness documentation for Indiana applications additionally requires proof that the investigator's institution can supply HIPAA-compliant secure transfer protocols compatible with the state's current registry portal. Projects that propose linkage to electronic health records must verify that participating health systems use one of the three certified platforms currently interfaced with the registry. These constraints are more prescriptive than in states with modernized, cloud-based registries.
